4D textiles for biohybrid implants – Presented by Valentine Gesché, Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University at the 2nd edition 4D Printing & Meta Materials Conference, which takes place on 1 February 2017 at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands.
This talk will focus on 4D Textiles. By combining textiles with an isotropic non-textile 3D printed material, it will be possible to design structures with a time-dependent shape-change and thus open totally new opportunities for the design of biohybrid implants containing both a cellular and a technical component – the 4D textile). These so called 4D textiles will enable us to provide a fully system-integrated multimaterial-composite. The talk will give a fundamental overview on this topic and show some application examples.
